Does Israel increase the safety of Jews?

In contrast to other democracies, the State of Israel operates as a representative body for citizens of other countries. Their alleged status of being a Jewish State ties Jews living around the world with a foreign country, Israel. This creates the dangerous perception of Jews being extensions of Israel and, thus, are vulnerable to being targeted, especially when Israel is at war.

The prevalent misconception that Jews cannot be ‘safe’ without Israel is perpetually propagated by the Zionist camps. Unfortunately, this disingenuous claim has seeped into the ranks of American political leadership, albeit with good intentions of safeguarding Jews.

However, the greatest threat to the safety of Jews is singling them out as a ‘separate nationality’ belonging to Israel. American Jews are citizens of the USA like the rest of our compatriots. We should be protected by the State and Federal institutions as dictated in the Constitution. Israel, a foreign country more than 6000 miles away, does not increase our safety.

Moreover, the very idea that Israel is a haven for the Jewish people is contrary to the tumultuous reality that our brethren in the Holy Land constantly face. Israel has seen more Jews killed than in all countries of the world combined. We are sincerely worried for our brothers and sisters in the Holy Land who are subjected to perpetual wars and attacks.

For Zionists, it is imperative to push the narrative of being the ‘saviors of the Jewish people.’ Without this false assertion, they are liable to lose their most viable arguments of being a ‘Jewish State.’

However, remember that the Jewish people are a religious collective belonging to many nationalities. Merging the political entity of Israel with the Jewish people does not mitigate antisemitism. It increases it.
